About me
Katarzyna Porczak
I am a graduate of the Faculty of Arts at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. I obtained my diploma with the Dean’s distinction in 2007 from the Sculpture Studio of Prof. Adam Myjak. From 2002 to 2010, I actively participated in the artistic life of Lublin.
I was associated with, among others, the Gallery of the “Gardzienice” Centre for Theatre Practices, where I was the gallery curator, the Centre for Culture in Lublin, and Radio Lublin.
In 2017, I completed postgraduate studies specializing in entrepreneurship at the Warsaw School of Economics. That same year, I also finished my doctoral studies in the Textile Art Studio of Prof. Dorota Grynczel at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Following her passing, Prof. Stanisław Baj became the supervisor of my doctoral dissertation, guiding me to the successful completion of my PhD in 2019.
I am an academic lecturer and a teacher, and I conduct creative classes for young people. As an expert in color psychology, I advise individuals and businesses, as well as run color training sessions and workshops – especially for architects, the interior design industry, and the beauty sector.
In my free time, I practice yoga, enjoy horseback riding, and paragliding.
Color Psychology
Color is a powerful force that can serve us in our private lives and professional careers. Understanding even the basic concepts of the psychology of vision, color psychology, color symbolism, and their associated cultural codes can enrich us, help us consciously shape our image, and achieve professional success. Without colors, it is hard to imagine effective brand building, impactful visual communication, or designing interiors and our environment. When chosen appropriately, they help us highlight our natural beauty, draw attention, attract clients, and create the desired atmosphere and mood.
For those who want to better understand the power of colors and use it consciously, I offer training, advisory services, and expert consultations in the following areas:
For individuals:
- Color testing
- Color coaching
- Color analysis
- Training: “Color in Personal and Professional Image”
- Development workshops based on color analysis
Business clients:
- Training on current color trends
- Consultations and audits on interior color selection (hotels, restaurants, food and service outlets, showrooms, and boutiques)
- Consultations and audits on color selection in branding and communication
- Color training and workshops for interior designers, architects, interior furnishings salespersons, makeup artists, hairdressers, and stylists
- Image training for employees
Education
I am constantly expanding my knowledge of colors, acquired during my art studies, to be able to teach others about them. Colors were the exact subject of my doctorate in fine arts, defended at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw – its title was “Color as a Dominant Feature in Space”.
Working for over 10 years as a teacher and academic lecturer – I currently lecture at UTH in Warsaw, and I am also associated with the Higher School of Promotion, Media and Show Business in Warsaw – I have been exploring the psychology and impact of colors for many years. This allows me to pass this knowledge on to my pupils and students in the most interesting and comprehensive way possible during lectures, classes, and creative workshops. In the artistic education of children, youth, and adults, I consider awakening creativity, initiating the process of self-insight, and sparking creative energy to be the most important.
I am fascinated by the use of colors in various fields and looking at them from different perspectives. Therefore, I undertook postgraduate studies specializing in entrepreneurship, and in 2017 I completed them by defending my diploma thesis titled “Colorful analysis of one’s own image and its usefulness in teaching entrepreneurship”. The supervisor of my thesis was Prof. Małgorzata Bombol.
In recent years, I have been exploring colors in the virtual world. In 2019, I was a color psychology consultant for a team creating a competitive Hyper Casual game as part of the 3u-2o Academy, organized by Huuuge Games and Google for Startups in Warsaw. My role was to ensure the conscious building of mood through the use of specific colors and to guide the players’ attention by introducing appropriate color schemes – this latter sphere is the most interesting and broadest thematic area regarding colors in video and mobile games.
